AXCO-Motors concentrates on designing and supplying axial flux electrical motors. Since its
establishment the company has been located in the functional business premises
at Technopolis Skinnarila in Lappeenranta, Finland. The excellence of AXCO-Motors' team lies in the non-obvious combination of profound research expertise in electrical engineering and strong practical and business know-how in the field.
We manufacture mainly a special-purpose line of industrial motors for a wide variety of medium-speed (3000 - 15000 rpm) applications. We focus on providing customised motors to meet your unique technology needs.
From a research project to a successful commercial product
The product concept of AXCO-Motors is an excellent example of how an innovative research project can generate a profitable motor concept into the international market.
| 2000 | The Department of Electrical Engineering at Lappeenranta University of Technology and a private company named Konetuote Piispanen Oy started a joint research project. The characteristics and applicability of axial flux induction motors to a wide variety of medium-speed industrial applications were examined. |
| 2004 | AXCO-Motors Oy was founded to commercialize the patented innovations made during the research project. |
| 2005 | AXCO-Motors was awarded the 3rd prize in the Venture Cup business plan competition. |
| 2004 − 2006 | The company concentrated on R&D to build up the motor concept. |
| 2007 | AXCO-Motors launched its first motors: Axco Motor 250 B and Axco Motor 45 C. |
| 2008 | Several new generator solutions were launched during the year. |
| 2009 | AXCO-Motors has concentrated on designing and engineering small wind generators (5–20 kW), as well as medium-sized hydropower generators (300–600 kW). Clients are situated worldwide. |
